YouTube has taken major action against misleading and deceptive AI-generated content. The platform has permanently banned two big channels including the popular Indian channel Screen Culture. These channels were accused of posting fake movie trailers made with AI. According to the report, these trailers were presented like real films, due to which users were misled.
YouTube’s big action on AI deepfakes
YouTube has made it clear that misleading AI-generated videos are a serious violation of its policy. According to Deadline’s report, Screen Culture and Georgia’s KH Studio have been completely removed from the platform. Now these channels are not visible in YouTube search and their links are getting redirected to the error page. This action has been taken for violation of synthetic content disclosure rules.
How fake movie trailers were made
According to the report, both the channels used to create fake trailers by mixing AI-generated images with footage from real films. These videos were presented in such a way that they looked like official trailers. Their aim was only to get more views and earning. Collectively, these channels had more than two million subscribers and more than one billion views.

First suspension, then permanent ban
YouTube had suspended advertising on these channels earlier this year. At that time the channels regained monetization by adding words like Fan Trailer and Parody in their video titles. But later these disclosures were removed, which was repeatedly considered a policy violation. After this YouTube banned both the channels permanently.
YouTube policies and further guidance
YouTube spokesperson Jack Malone said that the channels violated the spam and misleading metadata policy even after getting monetization again. This case clearly indicates that YouTube is now adopting a zero tolerance policy against AI deepfakes and clickbait content.
