Auction was held for players in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after 12 years. On November 30, along with many domestic players, 245 foreign players had registered their names for this six-team tournament, but the most discussed name was that of an Indian, because this was the first time that an Indian cricketer participated in the BPL auction, but the surprising thing was that no team bid on this player and he remained unsold.
Indian player did not find any buyer
Actually, former Indian leg spinner Piyush Chawla had entered the auction of Bangladesh Premier League. 36-year-old Chawla had completely retired from international cricket as well as domestic cricket and IPL in June 2025 this year. After retirement, he entered the BPL auction as he was allowed to play in foreign leagues, but no franchise bid on him and he remained unsold.
Piyush Chawla’s career needs no introduction. This leg spinner, who has played 3 Tests, 25 ODIs and 7 T20 Internationals for Team India, had the honor of being a part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup winning Indian team. He also played 192 matches in IPL and especially played an important role in making Kolkata Knight Riders the champion in 2014.
These big players also remained unsold
In this auction, players like Irish fast bowler Josh Little, Ravi Bopara, Samit Patel, Shoaib Malik, spinner Matthew Humphries, Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Wasim, Charit Asalanka, Dhananjay de Silva, Dunith Vellaledge, Geoffrey Vandersay and Chamika Karunaratne did not get a place in any team. Pakistan’s current T20 captain Salman Ali Aga also remained unsold.
