Doha is the main center of this mediation. From Bangladesh’s side, this deal is being looked after by National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman, who recently visited India.
According to North East Post, the former intelligence chief of Qatar is doing this work. The effort of all of them is to bring Sheikh Hasina back to power. However, the newspaper has not told whether the entire government of Bangladesh is involved in the talks taking place regarding Sheikh Hasina or not? At what level is the government of Qatar involved in this deal?
First attempt to open the way for Awami League
Qatar’s former intelligence chief Khulaifi and Khalilur Rahman have met 4 times in the last 7 months. Khalilur has also met American officials. Qatar’s first attempt is to open the way for Awami League in Bangladesh. That means the government should first remove the ban on Awami League in Bangladesh.
Qatar and America are in favor of allowing Awami League to participate in Bangladesh elections. Talks on this issue are going on in the first phase of Khalilur. In fact, after Sheikh Hasina’s departure, Yunus’s interim government banned Awami League. Due to this ban, Awami League cannot contest elections in Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina’s supporters are opposing this. Recently Sheikh Hasina also issued a statement. Sheikh Hasina said that if her people are not allowed to contest elections, they will protest on the streets.
Sheikh Hasina lost her chair because of American
In July 2024, students took to the streets in Bangladesh against the Sheikh Hasina government on the issue of reservation in government jobs. Gradually this movement became violent. Sheikh Hasina is accused of killing 1400 people. Sheikh Hasina was overthrown on 5 August 2024. Sheikh Hasina fled to India.
According to Sheikh Hasina, America and Pakistan were behind the movement. America wanted St. Martin Island from Bangladesh, which Hasina refused to give, after which America instigated a rebellion against her government.
However, after the coming of Donald Trump’s government, the politics of Bangladesh has turned 360 degrees. Trump has refused to interfere directly in the politics of Bangladesh.
