A drone was launched from Afghan territory in Tajikistan’s Khatlon province on Wednesday, November 26. This drone was equipped with grenades and firearms. It attacked a gold mine. Three Chinese workers were killed and one was injured in this attack. The Tajik government described the attackers as a “criminal group based in a neighboring country” who “continue to carry out acts aimed at destabilizing the situation.” Now Pakistan has also jumped into this tension that started between Afghanistan, Tajikistan and China.
Taliban-controlled Afghanistan tried to distance itself from the incident, saying the attack was carried out by a group that spreads chaos, instability and mistrust among countries in the region. The Taliban government of Afghanistan has also accused Pakistan of allowing America to carry out drone attacks inside Afghanistan using its soil. Afghanistan also said that Pakistan provides shelter to Islamic State terrorists and allows them to run training camps.
who carried out the attack
It is still not clear who carried out this deadly attack in Tajikistan. Also, Kabul and Dushanbe have not blamed each other for this attack. But, without any delay, Pakistan used this incident to directly target the Taliban government in Kabul.
Afghanistan-PAK came face to face
The Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan expressed deep condolences to China and Tajikistan on these killings and strongly condemned this incident. The ministry stressed that this attack was carried out by a group whose aim is to create anarchy, instability and distrust among the countries of the region.
Kabul assured Dushanbe of full cooperation to investigate the attack and trace the accused.
Who does Tajikistan consider responsible?
Tajikistan did not directly blame Afghanistan’s Taliban government for this deadly drone attack, but it made it clear who it held responsible. The government described the attackers as a criminal group based in the neighboring country, who continue to carry out attacks with the aim of destabilizing the situation.
Afghanistan has been under tension with Pakistan for some time. There is tension over the issue of supporting the terrorists of Islamic State (ISKP) in Khorasan Province. Afghan military analysts have said that Pakistan has given shelter to ISKP terrorists and allowed them to run training camps on its soil. While avoiding direct accusations, Dushanbe stressed that cross-border attacks remain a continuing threat to the stability of the region.
Pakistan targets Afghanistan
Unlike Kabul and Dushanbe, Pakistan’s Foreign Office appeared to have complete certainty about the attackers. Islamabad described this attack as a cowardly attack on Chinese citizens.
Underlining the use of drones, Pakistan said that this threat is originating from Afghanistan itself. Pakistan also said that Afghan land should not be used for terrorism against its neighbors or any country. Also, Pakistan, though not directly but by giving hints, linked this attack to the presence of Taliban and its protection to terrorist groups.
On one hand, Afghanistan’s troubles have increased after the drone attack in Tajikistan. At the same time, an incident happened in America also. There was a shooting near the White House, in which two National Guardsmen were shot. One guard died and the condition of one is critical. The suspect in this attack is an Afghan citizen.
Pak also spoke on America attack
After this, just a few hours after reacting to the Tajikistan drone attack, Pakistan commented on the firing by an Afghan citizen in America. Pakistan described the shooting as an “incident of terrorism” and insisted that international threats were emanating from Afghan soil. Pakistan said that just as it itself has been a victim of attacks by terrorists present in Afghanistan, similarly it shares grief with all the victims in America.
According to the United Nations, Tajikistan faces a persistent and threatening threat of extremism, especially since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. While experts from India and Afghanistan criticized Pakistan’s dual stance on terrorism, Pakistani foreign policy expert Ali K Chishti said the Afghan Taliban was responsible for the attack and “this incident will further harden Beijing’s position and give a boost to the regional anti-terrorism alliance.”
