Ripon Mia, duty officer of Bhaluka police station, told BBC Bangla, “Around 9 pm on Thursday night, a group of agitated people caught hold of Deepu and beat him up on the charge of insulting the Prophet. After this, the mob first tied the body to a tree and then set the body on fire.
After receiving the information, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The body was recovered and sent to the mortuary of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. At present no case has been registered. Duty officer Ripon Miya said, we are searching for his relatives. If they come and register a case, action will be taken as per law.
Who is Dipu Chandra Das?
This evening, a Hindu man named Dipu Chandra Das was physically attacked in Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh district of Bangladesh for allegedly making objectionable remarks about Islam. After this he was hanged to death and then his body was set on fire.
According to the information revealed, Dipu Das was a person doing ordinary work. Police have informed that he used to work in a local garment factory. Also he lived in a rented house.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in New Delhi said that the situation in Bangladesh is becoming complex. In a report presented in Parliament, the committee said, the political events of August 2024 have created immense instability and uncertainty, where incidents of violence, attacks and intimidation of minorities, tribal communities, media groups, journalists are becoming common.
