
US President Donald Trump has announced the closure of the airspace in and around Venezuela. Trump made this announcement on Saturday amid the ongoing tension between Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. This announcement comes after the President made a statement this week in which he said that the US would very soon attack Venezuela, because he and his administration allege that there is an extensive drug trafficking network in the country.
“All airlines, pilots, drug dealers and human smugglers are requested to consider completely closing the airspace over and around Venezuela,” Trump wrote on his Truth social network.

Along with these claims, threats have also been made to remove Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, whom the Trump administration has long considered an illegitimate leader. Since the beginning of September, the US has been attacking boats that it claims are being operated by cartel members carrying drugs in the Caribbean.
