
Local body elections in Maharashtra are in their final stages. Today i.e. on 20th December, voting is being conducted for the presidents and members of 23 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, and voting is also going on for 143 vacant member posts. The State Election Commission has given instructions to ensure peaceful voting and counting. Counting of votes for civic elections will take place on December 21. A huge crowd is being seen at the polling booths for voting in Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat. Women are reaching polling booths in large numbers to vote.
Voting was held for 263 local bodies of Maharashtra on December 2, while voting is taking place today in the remaining councils and nagar panchayats. The elections of 23 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats were postponed till December 20 due to appeal in the election court and various obstacles in the election process.

Among the 23 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats where voting is taking place in Maharashtra, Ambernath, Baramati, Fursungi Uruli Devachi, Kopargaon, Devlali Pravara, Pathardi, Nevasa, Mangalwedha, Anagar (unopposed), Mahabaleshwar, Phaltan, Fulambri, Mukhed, Dharmabad, Nilanga, Renapur, Vasmat, Ananjangaon Surji, Balapur, Yavatmal, Washim, Deulgavraja, Devli, Ghugghus are included.
Results will be revealed tomorrow
The State Election Commission had announced the schedule of general elections of 288 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in the state on November 4, 2025. According to the announcement of the Election Commission, voting for 263 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats was held on December 2, 2025. Voting is taking place today at the remaining seats. Counting of votes will begin at 10 am on December 21, 2025, at all concerned locations.
Election Commission gave orders to make arrangements
Maharashtra State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare on Wednesday directed the district administration and police officials to take strict preventive measures to ensure peaceful voting and counting. Waghmare issued these instructions while reviewing the preparations through video conferencing with district collectors, police commissioners, superintendents of police and election officials in the last two days.
SEC further said that voting and counting should be done smoothly and peacefully. Along with this he warned that immediate and strict action will be taken against any untoward incident.
