Sea travels thrill people a lot. Everywhere one can see only water, which is quite scary and this journey becomes even scarier when someone’s life is in danger or someone’s belongings get washed away in the sea during this journey. These days, one such video is going viral on social media, which has surprised everyone. Actually, in this video, people’s luggage is seen floating in the sea. It is being claimed that this incident took place in Thailand, where suitcases and backpacks of many tourists fell into the sea from the upper deck of a boat.
The incident occurred between Koh Tao and Koh Samui, which are popular tourist islands in Thailand. A tourist riding on the boat captured this incident on his camera and shared it on TikTok, which quickly went viral on all social media platforms. In the video you can see that suitcases and backpacks are seen floating in the water and the crew members are trying to take them out. According to reports, in this incident, important documents like passports and travel insurance of some passengers were also washed away in the sea.
Passengers accused of negligence
This incident has spread anger among the people. Many people have accused the boat crew of negligence in not keeping the luggage properly safe. One of the passengers managed to get 50,000 baht (about Rs 1,38,528) as compensation, but he felt it was not enough considering the value of his luggage. He said, ‘The boat staff were completely convinced that the price of a single suitcase could not exceed 20,000 baht (about £470), whereas in reality the cost of all our luggage must have been around 100,000 baht (about £2350) for each suitcase’.
Many passengers did not get compensation
The traveler further said, ‘Everything is very cheap in Thailand compared to western countries like Australia, so when we were explaining to them the price of our luggage, they were laughing at us. Thankfully we got 50,000 baht, but it took a lot of convincing and arguing and finally they had to take us in and pay separately. Unfortunately no one else got more money than us. However this was not enough. We got so much money only because we stayed there till the end and tired them out by talking.
