Meanwhile, there is news that the national anthem Vande Mataram may be discussed in the Lok Sabha at the end of this week.
According to sources, the Central Government has decided to discuss Vande Mataram in Parliament this week. It is being told that the government can discuss this issue in the Lok Sabha on Thursday or Friday. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has allotted 10 hours of time to discuss this. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also take part in this discussion. It is expected to be discussed in the Rajya Sabha next week.
150 years of Vande Mataram completed
In fact, on completion of 150 years of the national anthem Vande Mataram, the government has decided to hold a special discussion on it in the winter session of Parliament. This discussion will underline the historical and cultural importance of this song which inspired the freedom struggle. This proposal was approved in the all-party meeting called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on November 30 and the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of Lok Sabha-Rajya Sabha. On which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has also agreed.
Kiren Rijiju said this
Kiren Rijiju said after the all-party meeting that Vande Mataram is very important. In our freedom struggle, we fought against the British by raising the slogan of Vande Mataram. It has been 150 years since Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote Vande Mataram. The whole country believes in this. Rijiju said, ‘This is not a political agenda. It has been 150 years, even if we have to talk about it, I will put it before all parties. I will take it up in BAC. I cannot declare the agenda here. He said that Vande Mataram is respected throughout the country and we want to discuss it with all parties. The government is insisting on discussing the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram in the winter session of Parliament. During the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of Rajya Sabha on Sunday, many members of the ruling party gave suggestions on this issue.
Congress raised questions
Here, on the eve of the winter session, the opposition appeared divided on Vande Mataram. According to sources, Congress opposed the discussion on Vande Mataram in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) immediately agreed to it. According to sources, there was a war of words between BJP and Congress in the business consultation meeting of Lok Sabha. The Congress questioned why Vande Mataram was being discussed now, and called it a tactic to divert attention as they did not want to discuss electoral reforms and Special Intensive Review (SIR). BJP replied that Congress, which is one of the oldest parties, should have known that the country has just celebrated the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and hence it should be discussed in this session.
