Apart from Myanmar and Afghanistan, the names of Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Burundi, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela are included. US security forces have been instructed to identify the citizens of these 19 countries and immediately deport them.
How many people will be directly affected?
According to Newsweek magazine, this order of the American administration will have a direct impact on 2 lakh 33 thousand people. Most of them are Afghans, who fled Afghanistan and came to America in 2021. Speaking to the BBC, Joseph Edlow, head of US Citizenship and Immigration Services, said, “We have ordered a thorough and rigorous green card check for every foreign national coming to the United States from countries of concern.”
Green card is given to refugees. There were around 5 lakh refugees in America during Biden’s government, but now the number of these refugees has decreased. Trump is removing refugees from his country under the Make America, Great America campaign.
