Amazon Pay Biometric Authentication: If you use Amazon Pay then you are going to get more security. Amazon Pay has released biometric authentication support for UPI payments in India. Now users will be able to make payment through fingerprint or face recognition without entering UPI PIN. The company says that this will make transactions more secure and faster. This feature will especially help in reducing problems like UPI fraud and PIN theft.
How will biometric UPI work in Amazon Pay?
According to Amazon Pay, users will now be able to authenticate UPI payments through fingerprint or face recognition. This facility will be available while sending money, scanning and paying at the shop, checking account balance and shopping on Amazon. Biometric verification will work like a secure key, so that there will be no need to enter the PIN every time.
Facility will be applicable on transactions up to Rs 5,000
The company has clarified that biometric authentication will be valid only for UPI transactions up to Rs 5,000. If more amount has to be paid then users will still have to enter the UPI PIN. Amazon says that this limit will maintain a balance between convenience and security.
Claim of faster, easier and more secure payment
Amazon Pay claims that this new feature enables faster transactions with one-handed usage. Due to fingerprint and face recognition, the risk of PIN leaking will be reduced to a great extent. According to the company, this facility will work seamlessly in all UPI sections like Send Money, Scan and Pay and Merchant Payment.
This feature has come even before Amazon Pay
Amazon Pay is not the first company to introduce biometric UPI. In October, Navi UPI provided the facility of UPI payments with fingerprint and face verification. After this, NPCI also introduced biometric and wearable glass based authentication for UPI. Samsung Wallet was also updated with this feature in late October, which clearly shows that the UPI ecosystem is rapidly becoming more secure.
