Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi has issued a message to the nation regarding the VB Ji Ram Ji Bill which has been passed by both the Houses of Parliament. In this he has mentioned the achievements of MNREGA. Also, VB Ji has targeted the Central Government regarding Ram Ji Bill. He has accused the government of changing the form of MNREGA without consulting anyone. Let us know what the head of the Congress Parliamentary Party has said.
- Sonia Gandhi said in her message, Brothers and sisters… Namaskar. I still remember that 20 years ago, when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, the MNREGA law was passed unanimously in the Parliament. This was such a revolutionary step. Crores of rural families got its benefit. It became a source of livelihood especially for the deprived, exploited, poor and extremely poor people.
- He said, there is a ban on people leaving their land, their village, their home and family to migrate for employment. Gave legal right to employment. Also, Gram Panchayats got strength. Through MNREGA, a concrete step was taken towards the India of Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of village swaraj.
- Sonia Gandhi said, in the last 11 years, the Modi government made every effort to weaken MNREGA by ignoring the interests of the unemployed, the poor and the deprived in rural areas. While it proved to be a lifeline for the poor class during Covid, it is very regrettable that recently the government bulldozed MNREGA.
- He alleged that not only the name of Mahatma Gandhi was removed but the form of MNREGA was arbitrarily changed without any discussion, without consulting anyone, without taking the opposition into confidence. Now who will get employment, how much, where and how, this will be decided by the government sitting in Delhi, away from the ground reality.
- He said that Congress had a big contribution in bringing and implementing MNREGA but it was never a party related matter. This was a plan related to national interest and public interest. By weakening this law, the Modi government has attacked the interests of crores of farmers, laborers and landless rural class poor of the country. We are all ready to face this attack.
- Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi said, 20 years ago I had also fought to get the right to employment for my poor brothers and sisters. Even today I am committed to fighting against this black law. All the Congress leaders and lakhs of workers like me are standing with you.
