Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam. During this, while addressing the public meeting, he fiercely attacked Congress. Attacking the previous Congress government, the PM said, during the Congress rule, their thinking was that who would go to Assam and the North-East? Due to this mentality, this area was kept away from basic facilities like modern airports, better railway network and strong highways.
PM Modi said that the Congress governments, in a way, deprived Assam and the entire Northeast of development for decades. The Prime Minister made a serious allegation and said that Congress had committed another sin. He had conspired to erase the identity of Assam. Before independence, when the Muslim League and the British government were together preparing the ground for the partition of India, a plan was made to make Assam a part of undivided Bengal, i.e. East Pakistan.
Gopinath Bordoloi stood against his party
PM Modi said that Congress was also going to be a part of that conspiracy. Then Gopinath Bordoloi stood against his own party. He opposed this conspiracy to destroy the identity of Assam and saved Assam from separation from the country. He said, ‘The governments of that time had tried to weaken the cultural identity of Assam. Rather, its strategic and economic importance was also ignored. PM Modi said that today Modi is correcting those mistakes one by one, which the Congress kept making for decades.
