
The three-day 60th DGP/IGP conference started from Friday in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. While formally inaugurating it, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke on many important issues related to the internal security of the country. The conference will continue till November 30, in which top police officers from across the country are participating.
Home Minister Amit Shah said that the country will be completely free from Naxalism before the next DGP/IGP conference. He said that in the last seven years, 586 fortified police stations have been built, which has provided a strong base to the security infrastructure. Shah said that the number of Naxal affected districts from 126 in 2014 has now reduced to only 11, which is a big success on this front. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend this important meeting on Saturday. He has reached Raipur on Friday night and will stay here for two days. The Prime Minister will also present the President’s Police Medal during this conference.
Naxalism has been a challenge for the country for 40 years
Amit Shah claimed that the Modi government has found a permanent solution to the issues of Naxalism, North-East and Jammu and Kashmir, which have been challenging the country for the last 40 years. He said that soon these areas will become a completely normal environment like other parts of the country. The Home Minister further said that the government has further strengthened NIA, UAPA and through three new criminal laws, has taken decisive steps towards transforming the country’s policing into the most modern policing in the world. He described the ban imposed on PFI and the coordinated action across the country as an excellent example of Centre-State cooperation.
360 degree attack on organized crime
Amit Shah described accuracy of intelligence, clarity of objective and action synergy as the main strategy against radicalization, extremism and drug trafficking. He said that the time has come for a 360-degree attack on narcotics and organized crime, so that criminals cannot find shelter anywhere in the country.
Major action against drug mafia and their masters
Amit Shah appealed to the police of the states to work with the NCB to take major action against the drug mafias and their masters operating at the interstate and international level. In this meeting, along with Home Minister Amit Shah, NSA Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai and Sanjay Bandaru were also present.
