Taliban has made a major military demonstration amid increasing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Taliban’s Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that hundreds of new commando fighters have completed training and are ready for deployment to protect the country’s borders.
These announcements have come at a time when relations between the two countries have reached their lowest level in years. At the commando graduation ceremony, Taliban Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar gave a direct warning to the neighboring countries. He said that we will not allow any country to violate the land of Afghanistan. If someone shows aggression, the answer is ready.
Commandos are ready for any sacrifice
Baradar described the security of Afghanistan’s borders as a top priority and said that neighboring countries should not consider the patience of Taliban as a test. During the ceremony, Taliban commando units demonstrated helicopter operations, aerial movements and ground-combat drills. According to the Defense Ministry, the new commandos have received idealistic, ideological and military training.
These fighters are ready to make any sacrifice for the security of the border. The ministry also said that any power showing hostility towards Afghanistan will receive a decisive response.
Pakistan accused of air attack, tension at its peak
This whole matter became more serious when Taliban accused Pakistan of air strikes in Khost, Paktika and Kunar provinces. The Taliban claims that 9 children and a woman were killed in these attacks. Taliban said that we will respond at the appropriate time. However, Pakistan rejected these allegations and said that it declares all its military operations publicly.
Negotiations failed, relations deteriorated further
The situation between the two countries was already tense. After the border dispute in October, three rounds of talks held in Doha and Istanbul also remained inconclusive. After these unsuccessful meetings, now the formation of Taliban commandos and public demonstrations are being considered as a sign of new tension in the area.
