Tadka Vadh: How did Yaksharaj Suketu’s daughter Tadka become a demon, why did Lord Ram kill her?

Who was Tadka?

According to Ramayana, Taadka was a demon who had immense powers, but originally she was the beautiful daughter of Yaksharaj Suketu. This daughter of Suketu had many powers. She was also very beautiful. Due to the curse given by sage Agastya in anger, the daughter of Yaksharaj Suketu left her Yaksha form and became a human-eater and cruel demon. The curse of sage Agastya changed Tadka’s life completely.

Tadka started working according to her desires and powers. She became a crisis for the sages and forest dwellers living in the forest. Tadka married a demon named Sunda. He had two sons named Subahu and Marich. After the curse, Tadka started becoming more cruel. She along with her sons used to create obstacles in the yagya and penance of the sages. Tadka wanted to spread fear in the forest and harass the ascetics.

Shri Ram ended Taadaka with one arrow

He had created terror in the forest. When Vishwamitra saw all this, he went to Ayodhya and called King Dasharatha to help Ram and Lakshman. Lord Ram initially had hesitation in killing women. Then Vishwamitra explained to them that the end of the evil demonic woman was not unfair. After this God killed Tadka with just one arrow. After the slaughter, Tadka was freed from the curse and went to heaven.
