December 4 is no longer the last date for submission of forms in the SIR process going on in 12 states of the country. The government has extended the deadline for SIR by 7 more days. Now the time to complete the SIR process is till 11th December. This decision has come at a time when it was being said that there is high work pressure on BLOs in many districts and states.
Whereas earlier the draft voter list was to be released on December 9, 2025, now it has been postponed by a week. Now this draft will be published on 16 December 2025.
What changes happened in the dates?
- The time of draft publication has been changed from 9 December 2025 to 16 December 2025.
- The date of claim and objection has now been extended from 16 December 2025 to 15 January 2026 instead of 9 December 2025 to 8 January 2026.
- The final list publication was earlier to be done on 7 February 2026, which will now happen on 14 February 2026. This entire process has been extended by a week.
There will be reduction in the pressure of BLO
This step of the government was being seen as a relief to the BLOs. Because under the pressure of submitting the SIR form by 4th December, many BLOs have received reports of heart attacks, suicide etc. With this decision of the government, the officers engaged in the SIR process will now get one more week’s time. Because there are still many districts in the country where even 50 percent of the work on the SIR form has not been completed. This is also a relief news for the people who have not been able to complete their documents.
