There has been a situation of confusion for the top post in Karnataka for many days. Political speculations are going on everywhere from Bengaluru to Delhi. The ruling Congress wants to resolve this dispute as soon as possible. Meanwhile, after receiving instructions from the party leadership, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called his colleague and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for breakfast on Saturday to resolve the dispute.
Last week (November 20), the Shivakumar faction had raised the issue of changing the Chief Minister in Karnataka, because on this day the Congress government completed 2.5 years in power in the state. This issue has been going on for a long time, but it has gained momentum in the last one week. The next session of the Assembly is to start from December 8, so the Congress high command wants the dispute to end before that. The high command has asked both the leaders to resolve this issue without Delhi’s interference.
We will discuss over breakfast: Siddaramaiah
Amid the controversies, Siddaramaiah said on Friday evening, “The high command has called him (Shivakumar) and me and suggested that we should hold a meeting. So I have called him for a breakfast meeting. When he comes for breakfast, we will discuss the issues.”

CM Siddaramaiah further said, “There is no change in my stand. I have already said that I will follow the instructions of the high command and in this meeting also I will stick to the same stand. He has also said many times that he will follow the instructions of the high command. We will discuss.”
I am in no hurry to become CM: Shivkumar
Regarding being called to Delhi, Siddaramaiah said that he has not been called to Delhi. However, he also said, “If I am called, I will go.”
On the other hand, Shivakumar had also said yesterday that he is in no hurry to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka. During a program he said, “Party workers may be getting excited, but I am in no hurry. The party will take all the decisions.”
Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar has been claiming that after the tussle over the post of Chief Minister after Congress coming to power in May 2023, an agreement was reached between him, Siddaramaiah and Congress leaders in Delhi on a formula of 2.5-2.5 years. Although there is nothing in writing regarding this, nothing was ever said from the Congress leadership either.
Party does not want to remove Siddaramaiah
Earlier in May 2023, when Congress returned to power in Karnataka, there was a lot of conflict between the two leaders over government formation. Later Siddaramaiah was made the Chief Minister while Shivakumar was made the Deputy Chief Minister.
On the other hand, the Congress leadership has also indicated that there is no hope of removing Siddaramaiah, who is the biggest leader of the strong OBC Kuruba community in Karnataka and also has the support of Dalits and minorities. Whereas Shivkumar, who comes from the influential Vokkaliga community, wants to become the Chief Minister.
