Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will visit Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s residence for breakfast today (Tuesday), demonstrating unity in his government. This meeting will take place at a time when they had dined together a few days ago amid speculations of tussle between the two for the post of Chief Minister of the state.
Shivakumar confirmed on Monday evening that he had invited Siddaramaiah for breakfast to discuss and strengthen collective efforts to fulfill the promises made to Karnataka.
I and the Chief Minister are like a team
Siddaramaiah had earlier said that he has not yet received a formal invitation and will definitely go once he gets the invitation, while Shivakumar had said that it is a matter between him and the Chief Minister and they are working like brothers.
Later in the evening, Shivkumar wrote on social media platform X, I and the Chief Minister will continue to work together as a team. I have invited the Chief Minister for breakfast tomorrow (Tuesday) to discuss and strengthen our collective efforts to fulfill our promises to Karnataka.
Efforts to break the deadlock over leadership dispute
In an effort to break the deadlock over the leadership dispute between the two leaders, Shivkumar had reached the Chief Minister’s residence over breakfast for a similar meeting called by Siddaramaiah two days ago on the orders of the Congress high command. Shivakumar’s brother and former Congress MP DK Suresh was reportedly camping in Delhi to meet the party high command. He also returned to Bengaluru on Monday.
