The opposition is continuously opposing the four labor laws implemented by the central government. While Congress is demanding its withdrawal, Shiv Sena (UBT) is also against it. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena says that the Centre’s new labor laws will destroy the rights of workers. Because of this, there will be a situation of uncertainty.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant on Saturday criticized the Centre’s implementation of four new labor codes, saying they will remove the rights of workers and create uncertainty. Shiv Sena (UBT) workers wing chief Sawant accused the central government of colluding with capitalists and the rich.
Will challenge the new code in court: Sawant
He said that the law has changed everything from certainty to uncertainty. It also said that the new code will also be challenged in the court.
The Central Government has notified the Industrial Relations Code 2020, the Occupational Safety, Health Code 2020, Social Security Code 2020, and Code on Wages 2019, and these laws were pending since the year 2020, and many major reforms have been made in it.
Had protested even during MVA government: Sawant
Expressing disappointment over the new codes, Sawant said, “These codes will ruin the lives of workers and will not give them any special rights. Bharatiya Kamgar Sena will oppose the implementation of these laws.” He said that under the earlier law, any factory owner employing 100 workers had to take permission from the state government to close his unit, but the new code has increased this number to 300.
Shiv Sena leader Sawant further said that when Uddhav Thackeray’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was in power, he had strongly opposed any move to implement these codes in the state.
Labor laws should be withdrawn: Congress
Earlier, Congress also said in protest against the labor laws that the four labor laws recently implemented by the Central Government should be immediately withdrawn because they are anti-labor and promote bonded labour. Udit Raj, President of the Unorganized Workers and Employees Congress Cell of the party, claimed that the government in one stroke killed all the laws which already existed in the interest of the workers.
The central government implemented four codes last week, in which reformist arrangements for workers like minimum wage and universal social security were introduced on time for all. Rules related to increasing working hours and more fixed-term employment have been included in the new laws. Through these codes, 29 scattered laws have been brought together.
