One day before Saphala Ekadashi fast, one should eat Satvik food on the evening of Dashami Tithi. On the morning of Ekadashi, one should take bath and take a resolution of fasting with water in hand. After this, the idol of Lord Vishnu should be kept at the place of worship. Then they should be offered yellow clothes, yellow flowers, and basil leaves. After this, banana, sweets and Panchamrit should be offered. Vishnu Sahasranama should be recited. Mantras of Lord Vishnu should be chanted. Fast story should be read. In the end the puja should be completed by performing aarti.
