Artists like Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Rajiv Verma, Mohnish Bahl, Laxmikant Berde, Dilip Joshi and Parveen Dastur also worked in the film. The makers made this picture with a budget of Rs 2 crore. This romantic film had earned a whopping Rs 14 crore in India. It collected Rs 28 crore worldwide and was at number one in the list of highest grossing Bollywood films of 1989.

Maine Pyar Kiya has got a 7.3 rating on IMDb. This film also received a total of 6 Filmfare Awards. The film received these awards in the Best Film, Best Music Director, Best Lyricist, Best Male Playback Singer, Best Male Debut and Best Female Debut categories.
