
There is a new twist in the kidnapping case of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s daughter Rubya Sayeed. CBI has made a new arrest in the 1989 kidnapping case in Srinagar. The accused has been identified as Shafaat Ahmed Shunglu, who is a resident of Hawal and is currently living in Ishbar Nishat. Sources say that this person was a JKLF worker in the 90s, when this incident took place.
In the statement issued by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) regarding Shafaat’s arrest, it has been said that Shafaat Ahmed Shanglu, who was absconding in the 1989 Rubia Saeed kidnapping case, has been arrested. Absconding Shafat Ahmed Shanglu was wanted in a 35-year-old CBI case.
Reward of Rs 10 lakh on the fugitive
The investigating agency further said in its statement, accused Shanglu had committed a crime in the year 1989 along with Yasin Malik and others under different sections of RPC (Ranbir Penal Code) and TADA Act. There is a reward of Rs 10 lakh on the fugitive. He will be produced in TADA Court Jammu within the stipulated time as per law.
Rubia Sayeed, the younger daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was kidnapped just 500 meters from her house. This incident shook the politics of the country. The sound of this kidnapping at gunpoint had reached London. When the kidnapping took place, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was in London.
As soon as he got information about the incident, he came to India. Yasin Malik’s name came up in this case. For Rubia’s release, the government had to release 5 terrorists who were in the custody of India.
What happened that day?
It was winter in 1989. Rubia was a medical intern in a hospital. She was returning home from the hospital in the evening. She was going home by mini bus. During this time, at a distance of 500 km from his house in Naugam, four people took him out of the car at gunpoint and made him sit in a Maruti car and disappeared. Later it was revealed that the name of the person who committed this crime was Yasin Malik.
