
The atmosphere in Dhaka remains very sensitive on Saturday regarding the funeral of Inquilab Manch convener and famous student leader Sharif Usman Hadi. People from different parts of the country have started reaching the Parliament House area to attend his last farewell. In view of the possible crowd and security situation, law and order agencies have made strict surveillance and strict arrangements in the entire area.
The movement of people has increased around the National Parliament Building since morning regarding the Namaz-e-Janaza of Sharif Usman Hadi. Supporters and common people are continuously arriving to attend the last darshan and funeral. In view of the situation, the administration has completely closed the traffic on Manik Miyan Avenue in front of the Parliament House. Police have started the search operation by setting up security posts at both ends of the road.
Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at 2 pm
According to the information released by the government, the Namaz-e-Janaza of Sharif Usman Hadi will be offered at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Saturday afternoon at around 2 pm. After this his mortal remains will be taken to Dhaka University. Tributes will be paid to him at the Central Mosque of the University and further funeral rites will be completed there.
Will be buried near the tomb of Qazi Nazrul Islam
According to the information, after the funeral, Sharif Usman Hadi will be buried near the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Dhaka University administration has made special preparations on this occasion. In the online meeting of the syndicate held on Friday night, the security of the campus, especially the security arrangements around Nazrul’s tomb, were discussed in detail.
Strict ban on drones and bags
The press wing of the Chief Advisor has appealed to those attending the funeral not to bring any kind of bags or heavy items. Also, there has been a complete ban on flying drones in Parliament House and surrounding areas. A warning has also been given of strict action against violation of rules.
Police deployed with 1000 body-worn cameras
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has deployed a large number of police personnel in the capital for security reasons. The special thing is that about 1,000 body-worn cameras are being used. According to the DMP, its purpose is not only to provide additional security but also to check the effectiveness of cameras at the field level and strengthen central monitoring.
