This will have a direct impact on the pockets of common users, especially for 5G users, recharge can be quite expensive. Let us tell you that the last increase in tariff was in July 2023.
Why will mobile recharge prices increase in 2026?
According to the report of research firm Morgan Stanley, Indian telecom companies can increase their tariffs by 16 to 20 percent in 2026. Its objective is to increase the average earnings per user i.e. ARPU of the companies. The last time there was a tariff hike in July 2024 and now after two years, prices are set to increase again. The report shows that this has become a fixed pattern in the telecom sector.
How expensive will Airtel and Jio plans be?

Vi plans will also face inflation shock
Vodafone Idea users will also not get relief. According to the report, Vi’s 28-day 1GB daily data plan may increase from Rs 340 to Rs 419. At the same time, 2GB daily data plan with validity of 56 days can go up to Rs 699 instead of Rs 579. It is clear from this that the full impact of the tariff hike will be visible on Vi’s mid-range plans also.
Not direct price, this is how more money is recovered
Telecom companies do not always increase the price of plans directly. Many times they reduce the validity of the plan or reduce the benefits available. Recently Jio, Airtel, Vi and even BSNL have changed the validity and benefits of many of their prepaid plans. The result is that users have to recharge again and again to get the same features and the total expense increases.
