Once again a statement by CM Siddaramaiah has increased political excitement in Karnataka. He rejected the speculations going on recently about changing the CM. He directly said that there is no such thing as changing the Chief Minister in the state. I will complete my full 5 year tenure. While saying this, he also claimed that the support of the party high command is with him.
Karnataka For the past several months, such reports have been circulating in political circles that DK Shivkumar is being made the CM of the state. The reasoning behind this happening was that it was decided only when the government was formed. At that time it was decided that Siddaramaiah would be the CM for the first 2.5 years and DK Shivakumar would be the CM for the remaining tenure.
Now the current CM Siddaramaiah has completely rejected such an agreement i.e. power-sharing arrangement. He has said that nothing like this had happened. He said this on the last day of the Legislative Assembly session in Belagavi. Whereas recently DK Shivkumar himself had mentioned this. However, till now Shivkumar has not given any statement on this latest statement of CM.
Only the high command will take the final decision
Siddaramaiah said that I have just said this. Even now, I am the Chief Minister, and until the high command takes any other decision, I will remain the Chief Minister. I have never said anything about two and a half years. There is no agreement like two and a half years.
CM reiterated that he will complete his entire term. We will complete the entire term and will come back to power in 2028…Until the high command says, I am the CM. Politics has heated up after this statement of CM Siddaramaiah on the last day of the winter session of the Legislature in Belagavi.
There was a round of meetings in Delhi and Karnataka
MLAs supporting Shivakumar say that when the Congress government was formed in 2023, there was a deal of 2.5-2.5 years for the post of Chief Minister, but Siddaramaiah supporters have been denying this. Some MLAs, who are considered supporters of Deputy CM DK Shivkumar, have also gone to Delhi and met the party high command.
Many party leaders had talked to both the leaders in Karnataka regarding the entire matter. After this, DK and Siddaramaiah met twice for breakfast. From this it was believed that now everything is fine. Amidst all this controversy, DK Shivkumar had indicated that he may soon leave the post of state president. After this statement of Siddaramaiah, it is believed that the matter has not calmed down yet.
