Breakfast politics is trending in the ongoing tussle over the CM’s chair in Bengaluru, 2100 km from Delhi. There is one post and two contenders. One is seated and the other is waiting for the first to leave the chair and they get a chance.
To resolve this dispute that has been going on for the last two weeks, Congress has come up with a breakfast formula, but the question is whether there is something sweet in this breakfast or is the political flavor too spicy. Let us try to understand this.
On one side of the breakfast table is Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and on the other side is Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. The news of the invitation had come yesterday itself, today it was the turn of breakfast. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reached Shivkumar’s house on time. Shivakumar’s brother DK Suresh was also present during the welcome. Then inside, a nice breakfast at the breakfast table and some chitchat. However, how did it taste?
Something sweet or spicy for breakfast!
Sweet or something spicy. Only time will tell. But through breakfast politics, both of them tried to give the message of all is well and strong government in Karnataka. It was shown that Congress is united and there is no confusion anywhere. Both of them shared today’s pictures on their respective social media handles. They also praised each other a lot. Siddaramaiah was writing the post in Kannada while Shivkumar was writing in English.
Siddaramaiah wrote that I and DK Shivakumar will always be brothers. DK Shivakumar wrote that there are no differences in our views. I feel proud to welcome the Chief Minister at my residence. We are committed to good governance and development of Karnataka.
The difference in tastes of the two leaders is visible from two breakfasts within four days. It was started by Siddaramaiah. On November 29, he had served breakfast to Shivkumar at his home. Today Shivkumar had organized breakfast for the CM at his home.
This means that in Karnataka, breakfast has now become break difference, in which an attempt was made to improve the taste of mutual differences. The assembly session is also going to start from next week, hence no one seems to be in a mood to take any risk. Today DK Shivakumar had invited me for breakfast. The assembly session will start from next week.
The promise for the post of CM was two and a half years
This whole controversy is about the promise in which there was a promise of sharing the post of CM for two and a half years, hence on completion of two and a half years on 20th November, DK started fielding for himself but still his account is awaited. Why we are saying this, understand it from one fact. There is talk in the political corridor that Siddaramaiah does not want to leave the post of Chief Minister yet. His eyes were on a record which no one has been able to break till date in the political history of Karnataka.
It is said that Siddaramaiah wants to break Devaraj Urs’ record of remaining CM in Karnataka for the longest period. Congress leader Devraj Urs held the post of CM for 2 thousand 792 days in two terms. At the same time, Siddaramaiah has been on the post of CM for 2 thousand 753 days, that is, Siddaramaiah needs 39 more days to overtake Urs. Both the leaders belong to the OBC community.
CM Siddaramaiah will break records… will not leave the chair?
It is believed that for this reason he wants to present the next budget as CM which will be held at the beginning of next year. If he gets the green signal from the Congress high command, then Siddaramaiah can create a record on behalf of the Congress, that is, the waiting period for DK’s wish to become the boss may increase, but Shivkumar benefited from this controversy that the promise related to ‘power sharing’ made behind closed doors in May 2023 became public. The party high command has not yet considered his attempt to exert pressure through his group as indiscipline, that is, the talk of “promise” cannot be said to be baseless. In such a situation, it can be assumed that sooner or later his turn will come but it remains to be seen whether he will show patience till then.
