Political parties are ready for local body elections in Maharashtra. There is said to be a tough contest between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi. In a way, this election is a litmus test for Mahayuti. Because Bharatiya Janata Party in 2024
The Mahayuti led by Mahayuti had achieved a big victory in the assembly elections by winning 235 out of 288 seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi had to face a crushing defeat.

Voting for local body elections is to be held in Maharashtra on 2 December. During this period, votes will be cast for 246 Municipal Councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats, which is the first phase of the three-level process decided by the Supreme Court. Political experts say that the results of the local body elections will, in a way, decide the last one year’s tenure of Mahayuti. And after the opposition, there will be another chance to prove oneself.

Counting of votes will take place on December 3

The campaign time for elections has been extended till 10 pm on 1st December. Voting will take place on 2nd December and the votes will be counted on 3rd December i.e. the result will be declared. During this local body election, the fate of 6,859 members and 288 chairpersons will be decided. Let us tell you that Maharashtra State Election Commissioner Dinesh T. Waghmare had implemented the Model Code of Conduct along with announcing the election schedule on November 4.

More than 1.07 crore voters will cast their votes

More than 1.07 crore voters will cast their votes in the local body elections of Maharashtra. For these, 13,355 polling stations have been prepared in the entire state. State Election Commissioner Dinesh T. Waghmare says that electronic voting machines will be installed everywhere, and more than 66,000 employees will be deployed to conduct the elections smoothly.

Mahayuti came forward even before voting

The ruling Mahayuti alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party is contesting against Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) and Congress’s Maha Vikas Aghadi. At the same time, going ahead of other parties, Bharatiya Janata Party has secured 100 councilors and three city president posts without any opposition even before the first vote was cast. Party state unit chief Ravindra Chavan attributed this success to the public trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
