PM Modi spoke to Sri Lankan President, expressed grief over the devastation caused by Ditwah, assured of all possible help

Cyclonic storm Ditvah has caused huge devastation in the neighboring country Sri Lanka. So far 334 people have died due to floods and landslides caused by Ditwah, while many people have gone missing. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on phone with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Monday (December 1). During this, PM Modi expressed grief over the situation in Sri Lanka and also assured all possible help.

According to the information, PM Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of a large number of lives and property in Sri Lanka due to Ditvaah. The PM told President Dissanayake that India stands firmly with the people of Sri Lanka in this difficult time. He made it clear that the people of India stand in full solidarity and support with the people of Sri Lanka in this difficult time.

PM Modi assured all possible help

Prime Minister Modi assured President Dissanayake of India’s continued support to Sri Lanka under the ongoing Operation Sagar Bandhu to provide rescue and relief to distressed persons. The PM said that relief material and rescue teams sent by India to Sri Lanka are working on the spot. This assistance strengthens India’s humanitarian commitment and role as a first responder country. The PM assured President Dissanayake that under Operation Sagar Bandhu, relief, rescue and humanitarian assistance will continue to be sent as per the needs of Sri Lanka.

President Dissanayake expressed gratitude

President Dissanayake expressed his deep gratitude for the timely and effective assistance given by India. He expressed his gratitude for India’s assistance after the disaster and praised the prompt deployment of rescue teams and relief materials. He also expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Sri Lanka for India’s timely and effective response efforts. The President told Prime Minister Modi that due to India’s prompt help in the affected areas of Sri Lanka, relief work has gained momentum. He said that timely deployment of Indian rescue teams and supplies sent has provided immediate relief in many areas.

Ditvaha wreaked havoc in Sri Lanka

After Cyclone Ditvaha, life has been badly affected in many areas in Sri Lanka. Due to heavy rains, landslides and sea surge, thousands of people had to be taken to safe places. Relief teams sent by India immediately started work in the affected coastal areas and rescued the stranded people. Along with this, relief material has also been sent to India which includes medicines, food, water and materials for making temporary shelter. Under Operation Sagar Bandhu, the Indian Air Force is rescuing people stranded in disaster-hit areas of Sri Lanka. The Air Force has rescued 40 Sri Lankan soldiers and 104 Indians. This cyclonic storm has shaken Sri Lanka. This has affected 1,118,929 people from 309,607 families across the country.

‘Cooperation and humanitarian aid above all else’

Prime Minister Modi assured President Dissanayake that under its Vision Ocean, India gives top priority to cooperation and humanitarian assistance with the countries of the Indian Ocean region. Under this approach, India has always been Sri Lanka’s first ally in natural disasters. PM Modi said that India will also provide comprehensive assistance in the process of rehabilitation of Sri Lanka, restoration of public services and bringing livelihood back on track. Both the leaders agreed to maintain close contacts.
