PM Modi Visits Udupis: PM Narendra Modi today participated in the ‘Laksh Kanth Geeta Parayan’ program organized at the historical Shri Krishna Math in Udupi, Karnataka. The event was not only a religious gathering, but a massive expression of Indian culture and spiritual unity, in which approximately one lakh people together recited the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. On this special occasion, Prime Minister Modi, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of the 15th Chapter (Purushottam Yoga) of Srimad Bhagavad Gita. He told how these eternal messages of Geeta not only give direction to individual life, but also become the basis of the nation’s policies and principles like “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
What did Shri Krishna say in the 15th chapter ‘Purushottam Yoga’?
The 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita is called ‘Purushottam Yoga’, which means ‘Yoga of the Supreme Being’ or ‘Attainment of the Supreme Being’. This chapter explains the ultimate form of Lord Krishna, the soul and the nature of the world in a very esoteric and simple way.
Description of the world tree
Shri Krishna starts this chapter by describing the world as an inverted Peepal tree (Ashwath tree).
Upside Down Tree: Whose roots are above (God) and branches below (world). This shows that the origin of the world is in God.
Weapon of detachment: Shri Krishna says that the tree with strong roots in the form of this world can be cut only with the weapons of knowledge and renunciation.
Attainment of supreme position: By cutting this tree, the seeker should search for that supreme state, after reaching where no one comes back.

Best Man (Purushottam): The God who is beyond these two (Kshar and Akshar), who is indestructible and omnipresent, is called ‘Purushottam’. Shri Krishna says that he is the ‘best man’, and in the Vedas and the world also he is famous by the name ‘Purushottam’.

In his speech on the occasion of ‘Laksh Kanth Geeta Parayan’, Prime Minister Modi said that this eternal wisdom of Geeta, especially the message of the 15th chapter, is a source of inspiration for the policies of his government.
Mantra to help the poor: The Prime Minister said that Lord Shri Krishna gives us the mantra of helping the poor, and with the inspiration of this mantra, schemes like Ayushman Bharat and PM Awas are becoming successful.
Feeling of welfare of all: Shri Krishna teaches us about the welfare of all, which forms the basis of India’s policies of Vaccine Maitri, Solar Alliance and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Peace and Security: The message of Gita was given on the battlefield and it teaches that the end of tyrants is also necessary for the establishment of peace and truth. The Prime Minister described this as the basic spirit of the nation’s security policy, under which India repeats the mantra of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ as well as ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah’.
Energy of Social Unity: He said that recitation of shlokas by one lakh voices in one voice generates such an energy which gives new strength to the mind and brain. This energy is the power of spirituality and also the power of social unity.

Prime Minister Modi’s mention of Chapter 15 in Udupi shows that India’s ancient spiritual heritage is the guiding principle of its modern governance and public welfare policies. The message of ‘Purushottam Yoga’ inspires us to rise above the transitory world, know the ultimate truth and act selflessly. During this, PM Modi emphasized that every person and organization will have to contribute their duties to build a developed India. This is in accordance with the principle of selfless action of Geeta.
