The parliamentary winter session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha has started from Monday. During this, the opposition created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha over the discussion on Special Intensive Review (SIR). National President of Congress Party, Mullikarjun Kharge has made a scathing attack on the government. He said that the government is not giving a timeline to discuss SIR. They will not tell until December 19th. People are dying, they want to kill democracy.
Mullikarjun Kharge further said that all the opposition parties are unanimous on this. The government is trying to create divisions among the opposition parties. The more you try to divide, the more we will unite. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP from Trinamool Congress, Derek O’Brien said that we want discussion on SIR. All parties including TMC, Congress, DMK have asked the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to hold a discussion on SIR. Or you may change the topic to election reforms or whatever you want, but the government has not yet given any answer.
Government maintained silence on SIR
Rajya Sabha MP from Congress Pramod Tiwari said that when will the government finally be able to decide. Till now there are reports of death of 23-24 BLOs. The government has remained silent. The government will have to answer. Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Shiva said that pointing towards Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, he said that you had asked to give the timeline by 9 pm last night. Now tell me the timeline. Why don’t you want to tell? There should be a discussion on SIR, because the deaths of BLOs have raised questions on it. Therefore you will have to discuss.
Kiren Rijiju replied to the opposition
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, while replying to the opposition, said that how can one tell the timeline, do not impose conditions. We have said that we are ready to discuss every topic. We have not rejected your demand either, it is under consideration. We will reply soon, but it is not just three or four parties, other opposition parties should also come forward. He said that there are 12 more parties in the House, they want to raise different issues. We will respond to all these quickly.
