
The Government of India is preparing to take a big and decisive step to stop the rapidly spreading obscenity through social media platforms. The government may very soon make major changes in the rules of ethics code made for the users of social media and its purpose will be to ensure legal action against exaggerating obscenity.
Supreme Court had given suggestion, now government will take action
The government has informed the Supreme Court about this, this entire matter has come to light during a case related to the famous YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadi. The Supreme Court had suggested the government to make strict laws for rules related to content on digital platforms.
Government will take action if this work is done
Laws related to digital content such as Section 67 of the IT Act mainly apply effectively only to TV and digital streaming platforms, but now the government is preparing to expand its scope. After increasing the scope, the law will also be applicable on social media users, after this if any person is caught spreading obscenity on social media, then the government can take action against that person. Many changes will be made in the Digital Media Code of Ethics.
- Rules will be strict: The rules of ethical code will be tightened for social media users, the benefit of the new rules will be that people will think 100 times before sharing any post on social media.
- Criminal Category: If any person shows any woman or any other person in an indecent manner or tries to deliberately exaggerate obscenity on social media, then it will be considered a serious crime.
- Direct Action: Strict action will be taken against users by making new rules under Section 67 of the IT Act.
