Instagram for TV App: Amazon and Meta have together launched a new app called Instagram for TV, through which users will now be able to watch Instagram Reels on the big TV screen. This app has been released for select Amazon Fire TV devices and can be downloaded from the Amazon Appstore. Multiple accounts are supported in the Instagram for TV app, so that multiple people from the same household can use it.
New partnership between Meta and Amazon
Instagram for TV app has been launched by Instagram in collaboration with Meta. The purpose of this app is to deliver Instagram’s short-form content, reels on the screen, to the TV audience. According to the company, reels will be shown in different channels depending on the interest of the users. Users will have to install the app from Amazon Appstore on their Fire TV device.
Multiple accounts and smart suggestions
Up to five accounts can be logged into the Instagram for TV app on a single device. This app works on Instagram’s proprietary algorithm, which provides new and relevant content recommendation just like the mobile app. After logging in, users can search for their favorite creators and also view the profiles of their friends. With this, the experience of Instagram on TV becomes much like that of mobile.

Reels Interaction and Social Experience
Through this new TV app, users can not only watch reels but can also like them and read comments and reactions. According to Amazon, this app has been designed keeping social interaction in mind. Due to this, the Instagram engagement model remains active on the TV platform also. This feature is especially for those users who like to watch content with family or friends.
Which Fire TV Devices will be supported?
The Instagram for TV app is currently available on select Amazon Fire TV devices in the US. These include Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max First and Second Generation, Fire TV 2-Series, Fire TV 4-Series and Fire TV Omni QLED Series. This launch comes after Amazon recently launched Fire TV Stick 4K Select in India, which comes with 4K HDR10+ support and Alexa voice assistant. This step of Amazon seems to be reducing the distance between TV and social media.
