
Mokshada Ekadashi Fast: Mokshada Ekadashi is very sacred and fruitful in the Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month. Ekadashi Is considered. According to the Vedic calendar, in the year 2025, this Ekadashi is being celebrated on 1st December i.e. today. According to Vedic beliefs, this fast is considered to liberate the seeker from sins and bring positive changes in life. Worship of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi on this day gives special results.
It is said that the person who observes this fast with devotion finds the path to salvation and by the grace of Shri Hari, even the stalled work starts getting favorable.
Auspicious time for worship from morning to evening
This fast starts in the morning with bath and resolution. Generally, the best time for worship is considered to be from sunrise to the auspicious time in the morning. It is considered auspicious to perform Ekadashi puja at sunrise or soon after sunrise (usually between 06:30 08:30 am). If the main puja is not possible in the morning, then Lord Vishnu can be worshiped at any auspicious time before noon.
In the evening, a little before sunset or after sunset, around 05:00 pm to 07:00 pm, is considered best for the second puja. These times are said to be suitable according to the general Vedic day method. Actual sunrise-sunset varies depending on your city, so check the time based on local almanac.
Worship method of Mokshada Ekadashi
Take bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and keep the place of worship clean. Install the picture/statue of Lord Vishnu and resolve to fast with Ganesh Vandana. After this, offer incense, lamp, flowers, Akshat and basil leaves. Tulsi is considered very auspicious on this day, hence definitely use it in worship.
Throughout the day the seeker follows restraint, truth, peace and devotion. The method of fasting without water, fasting or eating fruits is kept according to one’s capacity. The main element of this fast is to concentrate the mind in devotion to God by staying away from vindictive food, anger, abusive words and negative thoughts. Chanting Vishnu Sahasranama or Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay is considered very auspicious.

In the evening, light a lamp in the temple and perform the aarti of Lord Vishnu. If possible, stay awake the whole night and chant mantras or meditate with a calm mind. This is the concluding phase of the whole day’s meditation. Parana is performed the next day on Dwadashi tithi as per the local calendar. After taking bath, offer Arghya to Sun God and worship Lord Vishnu. Be sure to keep basil leaves in satvik bhog, after that take prasad and conclude the fast properly.
