American politics and Hollywood are once again face to face. Amazon Prime Video has released the first trailer of a new documentary on America’s First Lady Melania Trump. But this film is not limited only to Melania’s story, but a huge controversy has arisen regarding its director as well.
This documentary has been directed by Brett Ratner, against whom many actresses had made serious allegations of sexual exploitation. Now he is making a comeback through this high-profile film made on the wife of President Donald Trump. The documentary Melania will be released in theaters on January 30. Director Brett Ratner surrounded by controversies
Brett Ratner was accused of sexual exploitation by several women in 2017. In an investigative report by the Los Angeles Times, six women, including actresses Natasha Henstridge and Olivia Munn, made serious allegations against Ratner. However, Ratner has denied all the allegations. Ratner moved to Israel in 2023 and described himself as a proud Zionist on social media. He is considered close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
What is this documentary based on?
This documentary focuses on the 20 days before the 2025 presidential inauguration. It is being claimed that in the film, the audience will get to see closed door meetings, personal conversations and places which have never been seen before by the cameras. The tagline of the documentary is- Witness history in the making. Both Donald Trump and Melania are seen together in the trailer. Trump says that my greatest legacy will be that of a peacemaker, to which Melania adds, a peacemaker and unifier.
Amazon’s big bet, $40 million deal
According to reports, Amazon has spent about 40 million dollars (about more than Rs 3 billion) for the rights of this documentary. Melania Trump herself thought of this idea in November 2024. Along with this, Amazon is also going to bring a three-part docuseries based on the life of Melania, in which her life between New York, Washington DC and Palm Beach will be shown.
