December 18, 2025 by Uma Shankar

Dense fog had spoiled the fun of cricket lovers at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow last Wednesday. The fourth T20 International match played between India and South Africa was canceled without even a single ball being bowled. Thousands of spectators in the stadium waited for hours for the match to start, but visibility became so low that the umpires decided to cancel the match after several inspections.

This was India’s first major international match, which was completely canceled due to fog. The cancellation of the match not only left the spectators disappointed, many also protested demanding the return of the ticket money. A video of a spectator is going viral, in which he said, “I bought the ticket by selling three sacks of wheat, return my money.” However, now there is relief news for the audience. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has announced to start the official process of refund for those who purchased tickets offline.

Full details of refund

  • Timings- 11 am to 6 pm.
  • Venue: Gate No. 2 Box Office, Ekana International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

what is the procedure?

Special refund counters will be installed in the stadium. Offline ticket holders will have to come in person and bring the following documents, which include original physical ticket, copy of government identity card (ID) and bank details. Refund form has to be filled at the counter, submission of original ticket is mandatory. After verification of all the documents, the amount will be transferred directly to the bank account.

For those who book tickets online, the amount will be refunded automatically through the same medium. UPCA has appealed to all viewers for patience and cooperation. Expressed gratitude for their support. This incident is once again raising questions on the decision to hold international matches in North India in December. The BCCI called it an “extraordinary weather situation” but said it would consider scheduling in the future. India is leading 2-1 in the series and the last match will be played in Ahmedabad.
