Congress leader Salman Khurshid has expressed his displeasure over changing the name of MNREGA. He has said that after 20 years there has been a change in MNREGA, this is an emotional aspect. He said that Mahatma Gandhi’s name has been removed. What will be the benefit of this? The question is this. He said that this has hurt us. No one can erase his name, Mahatma Gandhi lives in the heart of every Indian.
During a press conference in Srinagar, the Congress leader said that Mahatma Gandhi’s name was included in this scheme because it was related to his thinking. Its objective was to provide economic power to the people of rural areas at their homes. Also its objective was to empower the people. With this, people were given the right to education.
‘Became a charity for BJP’
He further said that in this scheme there was a provision of 100 days of work as per the demand of the local people. It continued to run successfully for 20 years. He said that 12 crore workers are associated with this scheme and now they will be affected. He said that now it has become a charity for BJP.
‘BJP harasses through investigation agencies’
Salman Khurshid said that National Herald has a huge contribution in this. It has been 12 years since it came under investigation and Rahul Gandhi has been questioned by the ED several times. He said that this is an attempt to scare and suppress us. The leader said that when BJP does not have any concrete plan, it troubles us by bringing forward CBI and other central agencies.
‘We will continue our fight…’
The leader said that the ED had filed a chargesheet seeking to register a case against PML, but it was ultimately rejected by the court. He said that in 2014, CBI refused to register an FIR in this case. He said that the ED filed a charge sheet against many Congress leaders in the lower court, but the lower court refused to hear the case. Due to this BJP had to face embarrassment. He said that ED and CBI are being used against us, but we will continue our fight.
