Local body elections are going on in Maharashtra. A large number of women and men had gathered in a hall in Kohojgaon area of Ambernath adjacent to Mumbai. As soon as information about this was received, Congress and BJP workers reached the spot, due to which the atmosphere there heated up. Congress and BJP workers have alleged that all these people were brought to cast fake votes. Workers of both the parties created a ruckus here.
Congress workers have alleged that these women were brought by an opposing candidate to cast fake votes. After informing the police about this, the police took the women out of this hall. Where did these women come from and did they really come to cast fake votes? At present it is still being investigated. From this morning, voting is being held for the posts of president and members in 23 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats of Maharashtra, as well as for 143 vacant member posts in these local bodies.
Counting will take place on 21st December
Voting in this regard has started at 7:30 am and will continue till 5:30 pm. The State Election Commission said in a statement that counting of votes for all Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats will take place on December 21. In the first phase, votes were cast for 263 city councils and nagar panchayats. In many places, the municipality president and members were elected unopposed. Counting of votes will start at 10 am on December 21 at all concerned places.
In some places, the ruling coalition partners, including the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, are contesting against each other. The contest between the BJP-led Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the ‘friendly fight’ between alliance partners have led to a multi-faceted electoral battle.
