Vikas Bharat Ji Ram Ji Bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha. Now the debate is going on in Rajya Sabha. During the discussion on the bill in Rajya Sabha, Sanjay Singh targeted the government. He said that there are statues of Gandhi in 80 countries. Gandhi was a devotee of Ram. Therefore do not play games in the name of Ram. Ayodhya was lost only because of loot in the name of Ram. Even Lord Ram will not be happy with the removal of his devotee’s name. Will curse you. Are you honoring or insulting Ram with this Ji Ram Ji scheme?
M. Thambidurai from AIADMK said that we support the bill but the provision of 60-40 should be considered. We have no objection to the name of Gandhiji, but I would like to remind that when the scheme was being planned in the name of Mahatma Gandhi, then under DMK pressure, the government gave it such a name as MNREGA so that MGR could not be included in it.
Changing the name will not benefit the workers
BJD MP Shubhashish Khuntia said, changing the name will not benefit the workers, there are many flaws in the bill, send it to the select committee.
At the same time, YSRCP’s Nirjan Reddy demanded to send the bill to the Select Committee. Earlier, during the long and heated debate in the Lok Sabha, Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan strongly attacked the opposition, especially the Congress.
Expressing strong objection to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh being dragged into the discussion, Shivraj said that efforts are being made to deliberately defame the Sangh. Whereas RSS has been the center of personality development and has given the country a long tradition of characterful, honest and nationalistic workers.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Sangh workers do not work for their personal interests, but with dedication for the society and the nation. While giving advice to the opposition, he said that the thoughts of Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat should be read and understood, because Hindutva is not any kind of narrow ideology, but is based on the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Congress killed Gandhiji’s ideals
Responding in the Lok Sabha, Shivraj directly accused the Congress that it never adopted the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi sincerely. He said that after independence in 1948, Gandhiji had clearly said that the historical work of Congress had been completed and the party should have been dissolved and Lok Sevak Sangh should have been formed, but in the desire to cling to power, Nehru did not dissolve the Congress and on the same day Gandhiji’s ideals were murdered.
Shivraj further said that accepting the partition of the country, giving special status to Kashmir, flouting the Constitution by imposing emergency and firing on saints in Delhi, all these incidents were against the principles of Gandhiji. He alleged that Congress had repeatedly crushed Gandhiji’s ideals by plunging the country into corruption and scams.
Congress cornered over naming politics
Putting Congress in the dock on the issue of name change, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that if anyone has the obsession with changing the name, it is Congress. He alleged that Congress named schemes, institutions and public assets not after Mahatma Gandhi but to glorify the Nehru-Gandhi family.
Counting out the figures in the Lok Sabha, he told that 25 schemes of state governments were named after Rajiv Gandhi, 27 schemes were named after Indira Gandhi, more than 86 universities and educational institutions, dozens of roads, buildings, awards, hospitals, scholarships, airports and even 15 national parks were named after the Nehru-Gandhi family. Shivraj said that the focus of Modi government is not on naming, but on work and results.
It is a plan for employment and sustainable development
Clarifying the objectives of Ji Ram Ji Yojana, Shivraj said that this scheme has a guarantee of employment and also aims to strengthen livelihood permanently. He said that till now more than eight to ten lakh crore rupees have been spent on MNREGA and it had become necessary that such a huge amount should not be limited to wages only but should also be used in the creation of permanent assets.
He said that under this scheme, many works related to water conservation, irrigation, ponds, wells, micro irrigation, plantation, rural roads, Panchayat buildings, schools, Anganwadi, libraries, sports grounds, solar lights, rural housing, Jal Jeevan Mission and livelihood will be done. Emphasizing on women empowerment, he also mentioned the Lakhpati Didi campaign.
Bapu is alive in schemes, not in posters
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Modi government has brought alive the ideals of Gandhiji through schemes. He said that Bapu is alive today in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Jan-Dhan Yojana, DBT, Mudra Yojana and poor welfare schemes. He said that Gandhiji is not limited to pictures or speeches, but is alive in the work that reaches the last person.
Passed by Lok Sabha, now it’s Rajya Sabha’s turn
Bharatji Ram Ji Bill, developed after Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s reply, was passed by voice vote in the Lok Sabha. After the bill was passed, the proceedings of the House were adjourned. Now the government has started preparations to get it passed in the Rajya Sabha.
The government says that this bill is a big step towards the goal of a developed India, in which it is envisaged to build a self-reliant and prosperous India by making developed villages the basis.
