
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman. The purpose of this visit of PM is to strengthen strategic relations in West Asia and Africa. India has taken this initiative when the geopolitical environment is surrounded by trade tensions, energy problems, security crisis and other strategic and economic problems. He reached Jordan on Monday, where he was warmly welcomed.

Jordan’s foreign policy makes it different from other Middle Eastern countries. While the countries of the Middle East seem to be in the camp of America, Saudi Arabia or Iran, Jordan has established good relations with Arab countries as well as Israel and Western countries.

Jordan’s strategic location and its long history of contribution to regional peace. The family of King Abdullah II has been ruling this country for about 1400 years. It is believed that the roots of his Hashemite family come from the family of Prophet Mohammed. The Hashemite Kingdom has often mediated Arab conflicts (particularly Palestine–Israel) and advocated regional security, making it a central country in the Middle East.
Relations with Jordan are necessary to gain a foothold in entire Arabia
Jordan is an important geopolitical hub in West Asia, bordering Iraq, Syria, Israel and the Palestinian territories, making it vital for the entire region. India’s expansion here will help India strengthen its hold in other Arab countries also.

Prime Minister’s visit gives new impetus to relations between India and Jordan
This visit of Narendra Modi took place at a time when both the countries are celebrating completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations. In this tour, India and Jordan shared a vision of future friendship. In which an 8-point shared vision has been kept to further deepen relations with Jordan. Which includes trade and economic cooperation, fertilizer and agriculture, information technology, health care, infrastructure, critical and strategic minerals, civil nuclear cooperation and people-to-people relations.

Apart from this, India already has good trade relations with Jordan. India is Jordan’s fourth largest trading partner. The trade between the two countries in 2023-24 will be worth US $ 2.875 billion (25, 858 crore). India had exported 1,465 million dollars (Rs 13 crore) to Jordan. India mainly sends electrical products, grains, chemicals, petroleum and auto parts. Fertilizers, phosphates and phosphoric acid come to India from Jordan. Apart from this, many projects of Indian companies are also going on in Jordan.
