Jio or Airtel in Delhi? Which company’s ‘Sikka’ runs, who is superior to whom in download-upload?

November 28, 2025 by Uma Shankar

Reliance Jio and Airtel are two big companies in the telecom sector, but do you know which company’s coin runs in the country’s capital Delhi? The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently conducted a network assessment for telecom operators in Delhi. The purpose of doing this assessment was to see how the telecom companies are performing? Four telecom companies were included in this assessment namely Jio, Vodafone Idea (Vi), Airtel and MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited).

Reliance Jio Download Speed

Reliance Jio offered the best average download speed of 249.02 Mbps, while Airtel offered an average download speed of 234Mbps. The average download speed of MTNL and Vodafone Idea was 5.04 Mbps and 23.82 Mbps. In terms of download speed, Jio has defeated all the other three companies.

Airtel Upload Speed

Talking about average upload speed, Airtel offered 31.83 Mbps, Reliance Jio 25.98 Mbps, MTNL and Vodafone Idea offered 1.68 Mbps and 11.38 Mbps speed. Airtel is at the forefront in terms of uploads and Jio seems to be lagging behind in this matter.

Who turned out to be better in voice calling?

Talking about voice calling, the call setup success rate of Airtel and Jio was almost the same. Call setup success rate of Airtel was 99.50 percent, Jio was 99.30 percent, MTNL and Vodafone Idea were 86.53 percent and 98.59 percent respectively. This was the network performance in auto selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

TRAI keeps posting this evaluation at regular intervals. The common thread in the trends of these results is that in most areas, either Jio or Airtel is on top for most metrics. In Delhi, even though BSNL operates MTNL’s mobile network from the backend, it is posted as MTNL’s brand in the results. BSNL has launched 4G in Delhi and is also planning to launch 5G soon.
