A total of 77 players were bought in the IPL 2026 auction held in Abu Dhabi. From Kolkata Knight Riders to Punjab Kings, all 10 franchises made big purchases and spent a total of more than Rs 215 crore. While all the discussion was about the most expensive players like Cameron Green, Matisha Patirana, Prashant Veer and Karthik Sharma, there were also some faces who were not the most expensive but their salary increased tremendously compared to the last season, the most special name of which was Australia’s Josh Inglis, whose earnings increased by 230 percent. These 5 players, including English, earned better salaries as compared to last season-
josh english
Australia’s star wicketkeeper-batsman josh english Was bought by Lucknow Super Giants at a hefty price of Rs 8.60 crore. He was a part of Punjab Kings last season, who bought this player for only Rs 2.60 crore. In this way, English’s salary increased by a total of 230.76 percent compared to the previous season, which is the highest in this auction. This bid on English was surprising because no one had bought him in the first round. Also, he will be available only for 4 matches in the coming season. However, he will not get the entire Rs 8.60 crore and will only get money equal to the number of matches he plays, but he can get this full salary in the 2027 season.
Rahul Chahar
There was also a strong bid for leg spinner Rahul Chahar, who has played for Team India. Like English, Rahul too was not sold in the first round of the auction. But the second time the number came, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought him for Rs 5.20 crore. Rahul Chahar was a part of Sunrisers last season, who bought him for Rs 3.20 crore. That means this time his salary increased by 62 percent.
Mustafizur Rahman
At the same time, some teams were interested in Bangladesh’s fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the very beginning and huge bids were made for him. Ultimately CSK bought him by paying a huge amount of Rs 9.20 crore. Last season, Mustafizur came as injury replacement and his salary was Rs 6 crore. In this way, the earnings of Bangladeshi pacer increased by 53.33 percent this year.

liam livingston
The story of England all-rounder Liam Livingston, who was a part of IPL champion Royal Challengers Bangalore, was also similar to that of Rahul Chahar. Initially he did not find any buyer but in the second phase he was showered with money. Ultimately Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for Rs 13 crore. This is 48.57 percent more than his previous salary. RCB had bought him for 8.75 crores.
Mathisha Patirana
The team of Sri Lankan young fast bowler Matisha Pathirana has finally changed. He was retained by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 13 crore before the mega auction. But he got a bumper profit in the IPL 2026 auction and Kolkata Knight Riders bought him by making a record bid of Rs 18 crore (38.46% increase), which is the highest for any Sri Lankan player in IPL history.
