
30 year old Indian student Vijay Kumar was stabbed to death in Britain. He was a resident of Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana. There is mourning in the family due to this incident. Even after several days have passed since the murder, the body of the deceased has not been brought back to India. Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased has sought help from the Ministry of External Affairs to bring Vijay’s body to India.
Vijay Kumar Sheoran was murdered in a street attack in Worcester, Britain on 25 November. This incident took place on Barbourn Road in Worcester city. Vijay Kumar was found lying on the road with serious injuries. After which he was immediately taken to the hospital, where he died.
Brother appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs
Ravi has written a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs, in which he said ‘it is difficult for his family to arrange the transfer on their own due to complex overseas procedures, legal formalities, documents and financial aspects’. He has requested the Ministry of External Affairs to issue instructions to provide immediate assistance to the Indian High Commission in Britain.
He said, ‘We are currently seeking help from the government so that the body can be brought and the last rites can be performed. Considering the situation the family is going through at this time, we appeal to the government for help in this matter. Ravi told that Vijay had left his government job two years ago and went abroad for higher education.
Vijay went to Britain this year
According to the initial police report, before the murder, Vijay Kumar had a fight over some issue, after which he was stabbed several times with a knife. However, the exact motive of the murder has not been clear. Vijay’s elder brother Ravi Kumar told on Sunday (November 30) that Vijay had gone to Britain this year. He was a resident of Jagarambas village of Badhra in Charkhi Dadri district.
MLA demands fair investigation
Local MLA Sunil Sangwan has also written a letter to Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in this matter. Sangwan told that Vijay was studying at the University of West England, Bristol. He wrote that he was murdered on 25 November. Which is being investigated by West Mercia Police based in Worcester. “We demand a transparent and impartial investigation so that justice can be served and the criminals can be held accountable,” he said.
West Mercia Police investigating
Meanwhile, West Mercia Police on Friday issued an appeal to any witnesses to the attack in Worcester to provide information. Police said in a statement: ‘At approximately 4.15am on Tuesday morning (November 25), officers found a 30-year-old man with serious injuries on Barbourne Road, Worcester. He was taken to hospital, but unfortunately he died later that day. Five people were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on bail pending the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse of West Mercia said the force’s thoughts were with the family and friends of the deceased. He also appealed to the people to provide information regarding the incident.
