
The joint military exercise ‘Harimau Shakti 2025’ conducted between the Indian Army and the Malaysian Army at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan was successfully completed. This exercise continued from 5 to 18 December. This was the fifth edition of this exercise. This two-week long exercise further strengthened the trust and partnership between the two countries.
Today, when security equations are changing all over the world, this partnership between India and Malaysia becomes very important. 120 soldiers of the Dogra Regiment of the Indian Army and 70 soldiers of the 25th Battalion of the Malaysian Army participated in the exercise. The armies of both the countries conducted joint training with a special focus on anti-terrorism operations. The Harimau Shakti exercise started in the year 2012 and is held alternately in India and Malaysia.
Better coordination seen between the armies of India and Malaysia
During this, important military activities like raid and search operations, helicopter operations, drone and counter-drone exercises, helipad security and evacuation of injured were practiced. Combat shooting and yoga sessions were also organized to increase the agility and fitness of the soldiers. The exercise has created better coordination between the armies of India and Malaysia and further strengthened defense cooperation. This exercise is being considered an important step towards furthering the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
Harimau Shakti Abhyas was started in the year 2012.
The word Harimau is taken from Malaysia. Malay language is spoken in Malaysia, in which Harimau means tiger. Whereas Shakti is a Hindi and Sanskrit word, which means strength or power. If both are written together then it means the strength of a tiger. The objective of this exercise is to increase cooperation between the armies of the two countries, anti-terrorism operations, jungle warfare and training under United Nations missions. The Harimau Shakti exercise started in the year 2012 and is held alternately in India and Malaysia.
Mi-17 helicopter center of attraction
A major attraction of ‘Harimau Shakti-2025’ was the slithering drill and heliborne operations from MI-17 helicopter. In emergency situations, low-hover jump and immediate deployment of troops was done. Leadership, planning and use of modern weapons were also practiced through ambush, command post exercise and live firing.
