
Prominent student leader Sharif Usman Hadi in Bangladesh was laid to rest on Saturday. A crowd of lakhs gathered at Hadi’s funeral. Mohammad Yunus, chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, also attended Hadi’s funeral. While bidding final farewell to Hadi, Yunus described him as brave. He said, today the whole country is remembering him. What he did for Bangladesh will be remembered.
Student leader Hadi was recently shot in the head. After this he was admitted to the hospital in Singapore. Even after continuous treatment, Hadi could not be saved. He died on 18 December. There was an uproar in Bangladesh after Hadi’s death. People came out on the streets. Raised slogans loudly. Also, there was fire in many areas. The angry mob also attacked the country’s media houses.
Mohammad Yunus paid tribute
Hadi was buried in Bangladesh on Saturday. Mohammad Yunus paid tribute on this occasion. Remembering Hadi, Yunus said, Hadi will not be lost, the mantras left by him will keep resonating in our ears. Lakhs of people have come today. People are gathering in large numbers. At this time, the eyes of millions of people are here. They want to know about Hadi.”
Mohammad Yunus said, “Dear Osman Hadi, we have not come to see you off. You are in our hearts. As long as Bangladesh exists, you will remain in the hearts of all Bangladeshis. No one can erase it.”
Yunus remembered Hadi
Dr. Yunus said that he has come to make a promise to Hadi, “Let us fulfill what you have said. We all have come together to make this promise. Not only us, but all the people of the country will fulfill that promise from generation to generation. Everyone is praising your love for humanity, your ways, your ups and downs and your political views. This will always be fresh in our minds.”
Saying that Martyr Hadi has given us a mantra which no one in Bangladesh will ever forget, he said, ‘Your mantra will always echo in our ears. This will become a great mantra and connect with our nation. We will walk in the world with our heads held high, we will not bow down before anyone. You have given us that mantra, we will fulfill it.
What did Yunus say about the elections?
The chief advisor said, ‘Hadi, you wanted to take part in the elections. You have also given a procedure on how to conduct elections. Let us all adopt that process together. You have taught us everything, how to campaign, how to reach people. We have accepted this lesson.
He further said, ‘Hadi will not get lost anywhere. No one will ever forget you. On behalf of all of us we submit you to Allah. We will always listen to you and will continue on the path of progress of the nation.
State mourning is being observed in the country
In his recent TV address, the chief advisor said that Hadi was the enemy of the defeated forces and fascist terrorists. Yunus said, the conspiracy that has been hatched to intimidate the revolutionaries and suppress their voice will completely fail. No one can stop this country’s journey towards democracy through fear, terror or bloodshed. Martyr Hadi was an important part of this process. His only desire was to contest the upcoming elections and play an active role in the next phase of building a new Bangladesh.
The chief adviser said the government would take responsibility for Hadi’s wife and his only child. After Hadi’s death, one day state mourning is being observed in the country today (Saturday).
Thousands of people attended the funeral
Thousands of people attended the funeral organized at Manik Mia Avenue near Jatiya Sansad. Hadi will be buried next to Bangladesh’s national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. During this, many people raised slogans demanding justice for Hadi. He also said that his martyrdom will not go in vain.
