The controversy over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling the hijab of a Muslim woman is not subsiding. While protests continue across the country, some BJP leaders have also supported Nitish. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on this, “No better can be expected from the party. Some BJP leaders have been vocal supporters of Bihar Chief Minister and ally Nitish Kumar.”
BJP minister Giriraj Singh He further increased the controversy with his comment when he said that the woman can accept the appointment or go to hell. Amid loud demands for an apology, Omar Abdullah said, “If I had lifted the veil of a Hindu woman in Haryana or Rajasthan, would the BJP have said the same?”
If a Muslim man had lifted the veil of a Hindu woman? – Omar Abdullah
Speaking to the media, Omar Abdullah said, “If a Muslim man had lifted the veil of a Hindu woman, imagine how much trouble would have arisen. But because the woman is a Muslim, BJP is doing this.” He further said that we cannot expect anything more from them.
Giriraj Singh’s controversial reaction
On Thursday, Giriraj Singh defended Nitish Kumar and said that he has not done anything wrong. If someone goes to collect an appointment letter, should he not show his face? Is this an Islamic country? “If you go to get your passport or go to the airport, don’t you show your face?”
When asked by the media what if the girl still refuses to take the job, Singh said, “She should refuse or go to hell.” Before Singh, NDA ally Nishad Party leader and Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad had made headlines with his lewd remarks defending Kumar. Speaking to a local news channel, Nishad questioned what would have happened if Kumar had touched somewhere else.
Sanjay Nishad had told Bharat Samachar that he is also a man, he should not lag behind. Once you touch the mask, that’s it. What would have happened if you had touched it somewhere else?” As the controversy escalated, Nishad claimed that his comments were misunderstood due to his regional accent.
