Goa nightclub fire: Preparations to bring Khosla, who fled to UK, to India, police starts process of sending Blue Corner Notice

December 20, 2025 by Uma Shankar

Goa Police has started the process of issuing a Blue Corner Notice through central investigative agencies against British national Surinder Kumar Khosla, accused in the fire at a night club in Panaji on December 6. 25 people died in this fire, while many were also injured. Amonkar, who fought a legal battle with Khosla, said that he had the protection of big people.

A senior police officer said on Saturday that Surinder Khosla was in Goa at the time of the incident and probably fled to Britain the very next day of the incident. He says, “We have started the process of issuing a Blue Corner Notice to bring him back from Britain. For this, necessary formalities are being completed with the central investigating agencies.”

Khosla fled abroad after the fire incident

It is believed that Khosla is one of the owners of ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub in Arpora, where a massive fire broke out on the night of December 6. The land on which this nightclub was built was given on lease to Khosla, who has been in a long-running legal battle with the original owner of the land, Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar.

“Khosla was in Goa when the fire broke out in the nightclub. However, he fled to Britain shortly afterwards, probably the very next day (December 7),” the police officer said. Police have so far arrested 8 people including nightclub owners Saurabh Luthra, Gaurav Luthra and Ajay Gupta in this incident.

Khosla got protection from big people: Amonkar

On the other hand, Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar, who is fighting a legal battle with Khosla over the land, yesterday claimed that Surinder Khosla, one of the accused in the case, has got the protection of ‘big people’ and has managed to escape to Britain. In an interview to PTI, he claimed that the police allowed Khosla, a British citizen, to flee to Britain after the fire in the nightclub located in Arpora village.

He also claimed, “The demolition order issued against the club by the Gram Panchayat was in Khosla’s name. Khosla’s name is in all the complaints lodged against the club. He is the main accused in the incident.” He said that despite being the main accused, he managed to flee the country because ‘some big people are protecting him’.

Amonkar also alleged that the Arpora-Nagoa Panchayat had given its permission to this nightclub despite being told in writing that the land did not belong to the people who had sought permission.
