Gita Ke Updesh: These things take a person to the gates of hell, Shri Krishna has told in Gita

November 28, 2025 by Uma Shankar

Teachings of Gita: Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is considered very special and sacred, because Geeta has come from the mouth of Lord Shri Krishna himself. Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is special and sacred as well as a very important Hindu religious text. The person who adopts the words of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in his life never faces any trouble in life. After adopting the teachings given by Shri Krishna in Geeta, life becomes beautiful and happy.

While preaching Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, Lord Shri Krishna had told Arjun that one should work selflessly without desiring any result. At the same time, Lord Shri Krishna has also told about some such things in Geeta, which lead a person towards his destruction. Its description is found in verse 21 of the 16th chapter of Geeta. Let us know about it.

Trividham nakasyedam dvaram nashanmatmanah.

Kamah krodhasthatha lobhastasmamadettrayam tyajet.

In this verse of Gita, it has been told about those three things which take a person to the gates of hell. Those are three things. Kama means material desires, anger and Lobha means greed.

Work

The material desires arising in a person’s mind can hinder his path to self-knowledge. These desires can encourage and compel a person to cheat, lie, steal and do other immoral acts. The greater the material desires of a person, the more the person will be forced to go on the wrong path. Therefore, a person should try to reduce his material desires.

Anger

Anger is a person’s biggest enemy. One should never take any decision in anger. Anger eats away at a person’s intelligence. Often decisions taken in anger turn out to be wrong and cause losses. Anger causes destruction.

greed

Greed plays the most important role in the destruction of humans. Lord Shri Krishna said in Geeta that the more a person has, the more his greed increases. The increasing greed of a person forces him to leave the path of righteousness and follow the path of unrighteousness. Therefore, greed plays an important role in taking a person to the gates of hell.
