Amidst the war with Ukraine, the date for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India has been fixed. Putin will be India’s special guest on 4th and 5th December. He will be the chief guest at the 23rd Russia-India Summit on the invitation of PM Modi. During this, Putin will have a bilateral meeting with PM Modi. President Draupadi Murmu will host a dinner in Putin’s honor. The world will see this diplomatic and historical tradition in the friendship between India and Russia, but the special thing in Putin’s visit will be the defense deals, because Russia can give India not just one but three Brahmastras, which will be a game changer in the ‘war time’.
From security point of view, S-400 is an important part of India’s ‘Sudarshan Chakra Chakravyuh’, but there is a possibility of a big deal between PM Modi and Putin regarding another modern weapon. We are talking about Sukhoi-57, Russia’s most advanced fighter aircraft. If India gets this, then understand that it will change the map of any war.
Russia says it is better than American F-35 fighter jet
This aircraft is also called Russia’s flying killing machine, whose super power is discussed even in the Pentagon in America. Russia describes it as better than the American F-35 fighter jet and it is being said that when Putin comes to Delhi, he will also discuss with PM Modi about handing over this Sukhoi-57 fighter plane to India.
It is being told that Russia has made a big offer of Su-57 to India long ago. Under this offer, India can co-produce this Russian fighter aircraft at home. Through Sukhoi-57, the dream of Make in India in the defense sector can give a new flight. If this fighter jet joins the fleet of the Indian Air Force, then the power of the Indian Air Force, which is facing the crisis of fifth generation fighter aircraft, can increase manifold, because this multirole fighter jet of Russia is equipped with stealth technology, that is, it is capable of dodging the enemy radar and keeping itself hidden.
Capable of tracking multiple targets simultaneously
Double engine single seater and top speed of Mach-2, i.e. around 2200 kilometers per hour. These aircraft are equipped with Active Electronically Scanned Array radar which can track multiple targets simultaneously and is capable of carrying out multiple missions at the same time. Equipped with long range firepower and the ability to carry heavy weapons.
It is equipped with R-37M i.e. the deadliest air-to-air missile, which has a range of more than 300 kilometers. Apart from air-to-air, it can also do air-to-ground attacks.
In view of the defense challenges being faced by China and Pakistan, India is in dire need of such a fifth generation fighter jet. However, the final decision regarding the Sukhoi-57 deal has to be taken by the Indian Government. Since such agreements are made in secret, it is currently difficult to come out with any official statement on this till the final seal is given.
Putin’s first visit to India amid war
Putin has not visited India since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022. This will be the first time in the midst of war, when Putin will be in Delhi. Friends will meet Modi. However, in the meanwhile there have been several meetings between PM Modi and Putin. On 28 September 2022, PM Modi and Putin met at the SCO Summit in Samarkand, when the Ukraine war was discussed between the two world leaders. After this, on July 20, 2023, PM Modi went to Moscow, where important agreements were signed between India and Russia. PM Modi was again visiting Moscow on 8-9 July 2024, when the 22nd India-Russia summit was held there.
There also PM Modi had told Putin that this is not the time for war. After this, both of them met during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia on 22 October 2024. On September 1 this year, PM Modi and Putin had separate bilateral talks during the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China. Whenever the two leaders met, the Ukraine war was definitely discussed.
Why a matter of concern for America?
This time too it is believed that when Putin is in Delhi, there will be separate talks on the Russia-Ukraine war. Apart from this, there will also be some agreements which may cause trouble to Trump. That Trump, who tried his best to break the relations between India and Russia regarding oil. Using the pretext of trade with Russia, additional tariffs were imposed on India.
India was directly warned to stop doing business with Russia, but even after imposing tariffs, good relations between India and Russia remain intact. Putin has been continuously praising India because of its balanced and strategic stand. While Putin yesterday described the leaders of Europe as spreading lies, he has been describing his friendship with India as the most special and without any differences.
When Putin called the leaders of Europe licking the feet of arms companies, he called India his most reliable friend. Putin had said that he is eagerly waiting for his visit to India, where he will meet his friend Prime Minister Modi.
