Bollywood Movies Title: The history of Hindi cinema is very old and this cinema has been accused of copying for a long time. Sometimes films have been made in Bollywood based on Hollywood stories and sometimes songs have been made on tunes. But now Bollywood has become so addicted to piracy that even the titles of the films are being stolen. That too, this is being done with the songs of old Hindi films. If you don’t go too far, in the last 2 years alone you will find many such examples where the titles of films have been taken from popular songs of some old films. Either the name of the film is being kept on the title of the songs itself or the title of the film is being made by picking a popular line from some song. It reached the limit when even the ad was not left out.
Till now the trend was to sing old songs remake Was being cast in new films. But now even the titles of films have started being stolen from songs. A film named Tere Ishq Mein has released on the fourth Friday of November. Aanand L Rai has directed it and Karthik Aryan is in the lead role. The title of this film has also been stolen from the songs. The lyrics are from an old song from Dharmendra’s film Main Tere Ishq Mein Mar Na Jaaun Kahin. Although this trend is not new. This has been happening before also. But now this is being seen happening very frequently. For example, let us tell you how many films there have been in the last two years whose titles have been taken from old popular songs.
This was seen many times in 2024
If we talk about the year 2024, then this year many such films were released whose titles are based on popular songs from old films. This year, Ameesha Patel’s romantic-drama film was released whose title was Tauba Tera Jalwa. Now just remember Abhay Deol’s film Dev D. The lyrics of the song Emotional Atyachar in this film were Tauba Tera Jalwa Tauba Tera Pyaar. This is the title of Ameesha’s film. Apart from this, Sara Ali Khan’s film Ae Watan Mere Watan was also released in the year 2024. This is also the title of the song of Alia Bhatt’s film Raazi.

Apart from this, a film by Amit Syal was released on OTT whose title was Jo Tera Hai Woh Mera Hai. Paresh Rawal was also seen acting in this film. Now if we talk about the lyrics of Airtel’s ad, it was also like this – ‘What is yours is mine.’ It seems that the film makers have taken this matter seriously and the titles of the films are being taken from the songs indiscriminately.
2025 also did not lag behind in this matter
You can estimate how trending this issue is from the fact that in the year 2025 itself, 4-5 such films have been released whose titles have been taken directly from the songs of the films. You can get an idea of this from Ajay Devgan’s film De De Pyar De 2, which was released some time ago. Now just remember the song of Amitabh Bachchan’s film Sharabi, released five decades ago, which he was singing for the character of Jaya Prada ji on screen. His words are also the same – give it love, give it love, give it love.
Fatima Sana Shaikh and R Madhavan’s film Aap Jaisa Koi was released on OTT. Hearing the title of this film, you will immediately remember the song from the 1980 film Qurbani. Whereas the title of Ashutosh Rana’s film was kept as One Two Cha Cha Cha which was taken from the song of Dharmendra’s film Shalimar. This was the song which was sung by Usha Uttap and after this song her popularity increased a lot.

Why is this trend increasing rapidly?
The film industry follows trends only. If something works, then the makers’ focus increases on similar things. For example, when Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 film series proved to be a superhit, after that, seeing its immense success, many similar films were made. These films also performed well in theatres. So, first of all, the reason for this is that this trend is highlighted in the present time and many such films are coming one after the other in which titles are being stolen and the focus is not being made towards unique titles.
Another reason could be that such titles are already popular among the people. In the form of songs, they remain on people’s lips and also in their minds. So the makers may be thinking that if the titles of the films are based on the titles of popular songs, then people will quickly get attracted towards the film and would like to connect. Apart from this, sometimes it has been seen that fans do not like titles that are too bulky. No one would want to have a title of the film which would be difficult to pronounce or remember. So keeping simple titles of films can also be a reason for this.

How successful is the practice of title copying?
However, one cannot depend on the fact that if the title of the film is simple then your film will perform well. Both are completely different things. Whether a film becomes a hit or not depends more on its story and characters than on its title. The title is for fantasizing. There is no doubt that the title of a film is its first introduction to the public and also its first invitation. But this has nothing to do with whether the film works or not.
As far as whether the films with changed titles work or not, it can be assessed on the basis of box office. Till now, the performance of the 10 films given above as examples has not been very special at the box office. So from the box office point of view, it is not visible that this trend would have been that successful till now. However, if the makers give fresh titles to the films, then it will be a positive thing from the creative point of view also.
